Manage Project Holiday Calendar

Modified on Tue, 29 Oct at 11:50 AM

Linarc's Project Calender allows the general contractor to set up the site's working weekdays and general holidays. The weekends and the holidays, when the site remains closed, are taken into account when calculating days, for example, the timelines of scheduled tasks.

  • The holidays and the weekends are defined at the project level and apply to all contractor companies collaborating on the project.
  • The weekends and the holidays are factored into calculating timelines of scheduled tasks based on their duration and dependencies. Examples include start and end days, early start/early finish, and late start/late finish.
  • Foremen cannot schedule their field tasks on the site holidays and weekends.
  • Crew members cannot clock in their timecards on the site holidays and weekends.
  • The holidays are excluded when calculating due dates for workflow steps for items like RFI, Submittals, Change Orders, etc.
  • General contractor - Can set up weekly working days and general holidays and edit them at any time, at the project level. They cannot select holidays as start/end or working days for tasks assigned to subcontractors.
  • Subcontractors - Can only view the working days and general holidays and cannot edit them for their convenience. They have to follow the working day calendar as set by the GC.
Tip: It is recommended that the general contractor sets up the site holiday calendar before creating the master schedule in Linarc. The scheduler uses the holiday list for various calculations like the task start/end days and durations, schedule delays, critical path, etc.

To set up the project calendar

  • Ensure that you are in the management console ot the project
  • Click the app launcher  , select 'Project,' click 'Project,' on the top, and then select 'Calendar' from the options on the left

You can configure the following:

Set up Weekly Working days

  • Open the Project Calendar as explained above

The 'Site Working Days' pane displays the designated weekly working days for the project. By default, the system sets Monday through Friday as the working days, but these can be customized to reflect the specific schedule of the project site.

  • Click 'Edit' in the 'Site Working Days' pane
  • Enable the days you want to set as working days
  • Disable the days you want to set as weekly off

  • Click 'Save' for your settings to take effect.

Configure General Holidays for the site

The 'Holiday List' pane in the 'Project Calendar' screen allows you to view and manage the general holidays that apply to the site, in addition to the weekends.

You can configure two types of site holidays:

  • Public Holidays - Allows you to select the national holidays that apply to the site.
  • Custom Holidays - Allows you to specify dates apart from public holidays. For example, the 'Founder's Day,' 'Professional Development Day,' or Holidays specific to that state or county.

Set up Public Holidays

  • Open the Project Calendar
  • Click 'Generate Public Holidays' in the 'Holiday List' pane.

Linarc generates a list of national and public holidays that fall within the project's timeline from the list of gazetted holidays published by the country/state.

  • Use the trashcan icon to delete a holiday from the list

By default, all holidays are marked as working days and are indicated in the 'Site Open' column.

  • To set a day from the list as a site holiday, click the pencil icon in the row of the day, deselect the 'Site Open' checkbox, and click 'Save.'
  • Repeat the process to select more holidays from the public holiday list

Your settings are auto-saved.

Set up Custom Holidays

In addition to public holidays, you can specify custom holidays for the site depending on your requirements. For example, Founder's Day, days that are holidays in that community but not listed in the public holidays list, etc.

  • Open the Project Calendar
  • Open the 'Custom Holidays' tab in the 'Holiday List' pane.

  • Click 'Add New Row' at the bottom to create a new holiday record
  • Enter the details:
    • Date - Double-click in the cell and select the date from the calendar
    • Holiday - Enter the subject of the holiday
    • Site Open - Indicates whether the day is a working day or holiday. By default the day is marked as a working day. Use the checkbox to mark it as a holiday.

  • Click 'Save' to save the record
  • Repeat the process to add more custom holidays
  • Use the trashcan icon to delete a holiday added inadvertently or by mistake

Your settings are auto-saved.
