Add new baseline

Modified on Sun, 27 Oct at 12:42 AM

The scheduler allows project managers to create schedule revisions as and when required by adding new baselines. Each baseline revision is numbered sequentially. The first approved and published schedule is saved as the primary baseline and is numbered 'Baseline - 0.'  The successive baselines are numbered sequentially.

  • Baseline revisions can be set only by the general contractors.
  • The baseline revision allows you to set up new start/end dates and durations for the tasks whose planned execution timeline requires a change.
  • You can set up new dates only for published last-level tasks that are in progress or yet to be started.
  • The changes with respect to only published baselines take effect on the project schedule.
  • The dates for the dependent tasks get automatically adjusted based on the dependency relationship if you revise the dates for a predecessor task.
  • The revisions in the dates are instantly synchronized with the schedules of the assigned subcontractors, and they are notified accordingly.

To create a schedule baseline

  • Open the 'Schedule' module in the grid view.
  • Click the 'Baseline' icon on the top right.

  • Select the items for which you want to revise the start/end dates and the duration using the checkboxes at the left. You can choose only the leaf-level tasks.
  • Click the tick button on the top right to confirm your selection

The baseline settings screen opens with the list of selected task items:

By default, the 'Baseline Start,' 'Baseline Finish,' and 'Baseline Duration' columns show the planned timeline of the tasks as per the baseline effective on them.

  • Set up the new timeline for the tasks as required
    • Click the 'Baseline Start' column of the task for which you want to change the start date and select the new start date from the calendar. The 'Baseline Finish' date will auto-adjust as per the duration
    • Click the 'Baseline Finish' column of the task for which you want to change the end date and select the new start date from the calendar. The duration auto-adjusts as per the new start and end dates.
    • Alternatively, edit the 'Duration' so that the end date gets auto-calculated.

The values in the rest of the columns get instantly updated.

  • Once done, click 'Publish' at the top right for your changes to take effect.
