Upload plan revisions

Modified on Tue, 29 Oct at 6:06 AM

Project managers can upload successively updated versions of the plan drawings to their projects so that the latest drawings are shared among those who work on them.

The process of uploading a different version of a drawing set is similar to uploading the first set. Typically, the later versions of plan sheets are uploaded to an existing plan set. The system creates a subset for the existing set by adding a serial number suffix to the set name to accommodate the newer versions. You can also upload the revisions as a new set if required. This article explains how to upload a revision drawing or a set to an existing set.

By default, users are presented with the latest version of any drawing. However, if needed, users can also view the previous versions of the same drawing from the same interface.

Typically, the general contractor can upload the plan sets and plan sheet revisions. The plans are available to all project managers from all contractors and architects.

Upload an updated version of a plan set

  • Open the management console for the project
  • Click the app launcher  , then select 'Documents.'
  • Click' Plans' on the top and choose 'Plan Sets' on the left.
  • Click 'Upload Set' on the top right

  • Choose the plan set to which you want to upload new/revised sheets under 'Upload from existing set'
  • Click 'Next'
  • Click 'Upload' on the top right
  • Click 'Browse Files' and navigate to the plan file set or individual sheet file(s) to be uploaded. Accepted file formats are PDF, Zip, and all image file formats.
    • Alternatively, drag and drop the plan file set(s) or individual sheets to the 'Sheet Upload' box.
  • Repeat the process to add more files to upload
  • Click 'Continue'

The plans module processes the files, resolves them into individual sheets, identifies the sheet numbers and sheet names using OCR, and shows the list of individual sheets.

  • Sheet Number - The sheet number as identified from the sheet
  • File name - The sheet name as read from the sheet
  • Tag - The type of plan sheet. You can choose the type from the drop-down
  • Sheet - A thumbnail of the sheet. Click the thumbnail to view the full sheet
  • Actions - A button to delete plan sheets before publishing

The details like the sheet number and name are read from the sheets from standard locations. If these details are not present or printed in a nonstandard format or location, then the corresponding fields are shown blank. You can use the AI functionality to auto-fetch the details. You can also use the feature if you feel that the values appear to be fetched wrongly for some sheets.

To use the AI to read sheet numbers and names

  • Select the sheets by clicking on their serial number

You can select a maximum of 5 sheets at a time. To use AI for more sheets, repeat the process by selecting up to 5 sheets in a batch.

  • Click 'Sheet Code with AI' at the top right

The AI processes the selected sheets and auto-fills the values:

You can also manually add any missing details and edit identified values if required.

To manually add/edit the entries

  • Click on the field for entering missing data or editing auto-fetched data and enter the details

Tip: Click the thumbnail to identify the sheet number and sheet name for entering them manually.

  • Click 'Upload' and repeat the process to add more sheets to the set.
  • Ensure that the correct tag value is set for each sheet. This helps in categorizing the sheets and searching sheets that belong to a specific division of work

Tip: The uploaded sheets are saved as a draft plan set. You can pause the process if you want to add more sheets or edit the details at a later time before publishing. See View and manage draft plan sets for guidance on this.
  • Click 'Upload' at the top-right and repeat the process if you want to add more plan sets files and/or individual sheets to this set
  • Once you are done, click 'Publish Sheets' on the top to save the sheets to the project

  • Click 'Publish' in the confirmation dialog

The plans module creates a new subset for the chosen plan set and adds the uploaded sheets to it. The new subset is named as the main set with a serial number suffix. For example, the first subset to the set 'FLO' is named 'FLO-1.'

  • Repeat the process to add more revisions and new sheets at any time.

The newer versions of the existing plan sheets are identified by the sheet numbers. Markups present in the previous version of a plan sheet are automatically carried over to the new version of the sheet.

See View Plan Markups for more details on viewing and managing markups on the new version of the sheet.
