The 'Split Spec Book' feature allows you to extract specific sections from the spec book and save them as separate documents for easy reference.
- This is useful for extracting divisions or sections of the spec book into individual PDFs for easy reference.
- The individual files make it easier to navigate and find specific requirements related to specific trades, such as electrical, plumbing, or HVAC, without wading through irrelevant details.
- The breakdown is also helpful in linking the division to other items like submittals, RFIs, etc.
- A spec book can be split multiple times, allowing you to extract various sections at different stages as needed.
To split and extract a spec book portion
- Open the management console for the project
- Click the app launcher , then select 'Documents.'
- Click 'Spec Book' on the top and select 'Book on the left.
- Open the spec book to split by clicking its title
- Click 'Split SpecBook' at the top-right
The TOC of the spec book opens:
- Choose the outline level for the TOC to expand, allowing you to select specific sections for extraction
- Select the section to extract by clicking its serial number.
Tip: Press 'Ctrl' or 'Shift' keys on your keyboard to select multiple items at once. Each section is extracted as a separate, individual document.
- Click 'Proceed'
The selected sections are extracted and added as individual documents under the parent document. You can view them in the 'Spec Book' screen.
Tip: Click the arrow at the left of the parent document to expand it and view the extracted documents.
The split documents are shared among the collaborators for them to refer and use them.
